Diane Rath is acknowledged as one of the finest upcoming painters and visionary teachers present today. For twenty years she has been perfecting her painting skills while teaching at the prestigious Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago.
Born in Iowa in 1953, her education is extensive and ongoing. Over 8 years she studied at the American Academy of Art receiving 2 degrees and post graduate studies. Prior, she trained under the direct tutelage of Merrenda and Gordon Keyte drawing plaster casts from the Julianne’ Academy. Many hours and workshops with Richard Schmid, David Leffel, Harley Brown and Gregg Kreutz have credited her skills with the brush and word.
Ms. Rath was a member of the American Academy’s faculty for 10 years and the Palette & Chisel AFA for 9. She presents workshops in still life, portraiture and landscape, writes stories and articles and paints for galleries and commissioned pieces.
She is a Signature Member of the OPA, member of the Palette & Chisel, on Board of Directors for 6 years. Affiliated with American Women Artists, NM, and Artists on the Bluff, IL.
Gallery representation is through Buffalo Trail, Jackson WY, Joe Wade Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM, Hinsdale Gallery, IL and Palette & Chisel Gallery, Galena, IL.
Recent awards include the American Artist Award, Oil Painters of America National Show 2002, American Women Artists, Outstanding Work Award 2002, and the AWA’s Award of Recognition 2004, Santa Fe, NM.
She shows in numerous group exhibitions and has created 5 one woman shows.
